EUROPEAN PROJECTS ON SOCIETAL SECURITY AND EXTREMISM: EXCHANGING IDEAS AND PRACTICES

In the realm of the fact that the EU funds hundreds of projects under different financial frameworks, with overlapping scopes and themes, often there is little dialogue and open exchange between project actors involved in similar research activities. This, on the one hand, can lead to redundancy in project outputs, inefficient dissemination, or skepticism from the community of practice to be involved in another similar initiative and, on the other hand, vague prospects for the future use of the project deliverables. Some projects might also cope with fragmentation by trying to connect various work packages and tasks into the organic whole.

As one of the final steps to finalize the FP7 SOURCE project activities, VUB-IES is aiming at bringing together ongoing and recently finalized European projects related to societal security and extremism. The representatives of relevant European projects will exchange their most impactful deliverables, share good practices and discuss the critical points emerged in the course of their project work. The SOURCE project will cover travel cost of participants travelling from Europe.
