Training Aid is a two-year project co-funded by the European Commission (DG Home Affairs) under the “Law Enforcement Training” programme. Its primary objective is to prevent radicalisation by equipping frontline practitioners with the skills and tools needed to detect early signs of radicalisation across various contexts and respond appropriately.
The project supports the harmonisation of counter-radicalisation efforts across EU Member States by developing shared procedures and highly specialised training methodologies. It integrates key topics such as strategic planning and fundamental rights, and adopts a blended learning approach, combining synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods with interactive virtual environments.
Key outputs include:
- A custom-designed training curriculum;
- Recruitment and training of 48 expert trainers;
- Delivery of training to over 1,000 frontline professionals across Europe.
Target groups include law enforcement agencies, prison and probation staff, judicial authorities, police academies, and EU bodies such as Europol, Eurojust, and CEPOL.
The project will host Expert Users Panels in Spain, Germany, and Latvia, and implement “Training of Trainers” sessions in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Latvia to ensure broad reach and sustainable impact.A key result of the consortium’s work is HERMES—an innovative, interactive training platform designed to support practitioners engaged in counter-radicalisation activities throughout Europe.
