Beatrice Maccarini graduated in Law from the University of Milan-Bicocca and obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Criminology and Forensic Psychopathology from the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. She is an expert mediator in restorative justice programs, listed as a mediator under Legislative Decree 150/2022, and has been working since 2015 with the Dike Cooperative for Conflict Mediation at the Center for Restorative Justice and Criminal Mediation of the Municipality of Milan, where she deals with restorative justice programs for adults and minors. Since 2017, she has been cooperating as a subject expert with Professor Adolfo Ceretti’s Chair of Criminology at the University of Milan-Bicocca. Since 2018, she has been working as a criminologist pursuant to Article 80 of the Italian Prison Administration Act. She has carried out scientific observation of the personality of individuals serving external and intramural criminal sentences at the UDEPE in Trieste and Verona, the Rodolfo Morandi Prison in Saluzzo for individuals under high security (AS3), and the Milan San Vittore Prison, with a particular focus on prisoners at risk of violent radicalization and crimes of mistreatment. Since March 2023, she has been working as a criminologist at the SerD Area Penale e Penitenziaria (Criminal and Penitentiary Service) within the prison in the Second Prison of Milan-Bollate, working with inmates with pathological addiction problems (with a particular focus on the potential criminogenic role of money and gambling addiction).Since March 2024, she has also been Project Manager at the Agenfor International Foundation, where she is involved in research activities in the field of European judicial cooperation, with a particular focus on restorative justice programs and alternative measures.
