Eva Tzavala

Eva Tzavala works as a Legal Adviser at the Greek National Commission for Human Rights. Since 2021, she also serves as Chair of the Asylum and Migration Working Group of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI). She is a doctoral candidate at the Law Faculty of Athens (with scholarships from National Scholarship Foundation and Max Planck Institute of Luxembourg) and holds an LLB from the University of Athens and an LLM from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. She is a keen researcher on public international law and human rights matters and has extensive teaching experience in international humanitarian and criminal law, human rights and refugee law. In the past, she was appointed, for several years, as a member of the Independent Appeal Committees of the Greek Ministry for Migration and Asylum and has previously worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Greece, the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs in the USA and the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights.

It specializes in the development of innovative technologies, including those based on Artificial Intelligence, for the analysis and prevention of complex criminal phenomena such as migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
