Digital skills and immersive technologies in VET

Key findings from the VR DigiVET needs analysis

Abstract

This report presents the findings of the Needs Assessment conducted within the framework of the European project VR DigiVET.

The study combined desk research, structured questionnaires addressed to VET staff and students, and participatory engagement activities to analyse the current state of digital skills within the Albanian Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, with particular focus on the ICT and tourism sectors.

The findings reveal:

  • A strong demand for advanced transversal digital skills development
  • Specific gaps in critical evaluation of online information, multimedia content creation, and pedagogical integration of digital tools
  • Structural barriers related to infrastructure, access to technology, and teacher professional development
  • Broadly positive attitudes toward the integration of immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)

The Needs Assessment provides a solid evidence base for the development of targeted digital skills curricula and immersive learning pathways. It contributes to strengthening student employability and supporting the digital transformation of the VET system in alignment with European priorities.
