Concept and architecture of the digital ecosystem

Abstract

This document presents the conceptualisation and design of the digital infrastructure developed within the VR DigiVET project.

The infrastructure is designed as a European Virtual Academy that integrates immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, multiplayer functionalities, and blended learning methodologies into a single, comprehensive digital ecosystem.

The platform includes:

  • A Virtual Reception supported by AI-driven avatars
  • A Virtual Library providing access to educational and immersive resources
  • Interactive Classrooms and Learning Spaces
  • A dedicated Tourism Building for sector-specific training
  • Collaborative and networking environments for real-time interaction

Built using advanced technologies such as Unreal Engine, AI integration tools, and multiplayer server infrastructure, the system combines synchronous, asynchronous, and VR-based learning modalities. The conceptual framework emphasizes accessibility, inclusiveness, security, scalability, and long-term sustainability.

By bridging immersive environments with structured digital curricula, the VR DigiVET digital infrastructure represents a transformative step toward modernising VET systems and strengthening immersive digital skills development.
