Giving EuroLegalBot a voice and a face: the avatarised chatbot

Abstract

EuroLegalBot has taken an important step towards making interaction with legal AI more accessible and intuitive: the project has developed its avatarised chatbot.

Presented in Deliverable D3.2, the digital avatar transforms the chatbot into a conversational virtual assistant able to support justice practitioners working with the European Arrest Warrant. Its appearance, voice, gestures and behavioural elements have been designed to create a clearer and more engaging interaction, while Natural Language Processing enables users to communicate with the system in a conversational way.

Users can interact with EuroLegalBot through written or spoken questions and in multiple languages. The chatbot can help explore EU and national case law, EAW procedures and related legal and procedural issues.

Available through both the project website and the EU Virtual Judiciary Academy, the avatarised chatbot brings together AI, legal knowledge and an accessible human-machine interface, preparing the system for further testing and validation with its professional users.
